Fullwidth text uses character codes from the Halfwidth and Fullwidth Forms Unicode block. In CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) typography, characters are written inside square cells. To make Latin characters match this grid, fullwidth versions were created with wider horizontal spacing.
